MISO is an essential link in the safe, cost-effective delivery of electric power across all or parts of 15 U.S. states and the Canadian province of Manitoba. As a Regional Transmission Organization, MISO assures consumers of unbiased regional grid management and open access to the transmission facilities under MISO’s functional supervision.

The mission of the MISO Summer Internship Program is to partner with select schools, professors and students pursuing academic excellence to create opportunities that stretch learning experiences into a work environment with intellectually challenging priority projects and assignments.  These opportunities will promote industry awareness, growth, and initiation into the MISO culture and identification of top talent for future employment.

MISO employs over 800 technical and administrative experts and our summer interns assist company leadership with important projects and assignments.  We recruit interns from the best technical colleges and upon graduation many of our interns move forward to full-time positions. 

Our summer internship program is a paid learning experience targeting students who will be entering their senior year at the beginning of the program as well as Graduate and PhD candidates.

Interns are paid a competitive rate and housing options are provided for students who qualify.

We offer meaningful educational experiences that are personally rewarding to students.  Interns are assigned to a manager/mentor to ensure the experience builds broad technical and leadership skills.  Students are given summer long projects to support their learning objectives.  Additionally, students are given a high profile opportunity to present the results of their projects, including making recommendations to department team members and company leadership. 

Information sessions throughout the summer are designed to enhance each intern’s professional growth and may include such topics as money management, retirement planning, student loan consolidation and benefits training. 

Summer internships are available at our corporate headquarters in Carmel, IN as well as our Eagan, MN; Metairie, LA and Little Rock, AR locations.
