Electrical Engineering Internship with Physical Facilities

The Electrical Engineering Intern position will create a comprehensive database of the types of exterior lighting on campus as well as the light levels along pedestrian walkways and in parking lots.  This position will collect and assimilate the following data for entry into Arc-GIS:

Exterior lighting levels on all walkways and parking lots Exterior light types (technology) on all exterior lights Exterior light fixture manufacturer, model number and generation of LEDs IESNA light pattern for each fixture Exterior light pole type and height Exterior light circuiting information Exterior lighting control information (documentation)

Note: Exterior light level readings will need to be taken at night with a hand held light meter provided by the department.

 

If time allows the position will assist Facilities Electrical Engineering in:

 

  • Performing miscellaneous analysis tasks such as verifying load calculations, researching code interpretations and others in support of Physical Facilities projects.
  • Researching archives and gathering data for various Capital and Physical Facilities design projects.
  • Update existing electrical system databases and establish new system databases as required.
  • Interior lighting controls, document manufacturers and types.

 

 

This 12-month position is full time during the summer and continues part time during the fall and spring semesters. The position is open to 2018 graduates or later with a prospect to continue the following year(s). Seniors and graduate students need not apply.
