Catalog Description:
This course is intended to improve the writing proficiency of incoming Ph.D. students in ECE. This will be accomplished primarily by having the students investigate the written discourse of their chosen field and putting this information into a written report. In addition, the students will learn to write professional documents such as resumes, CVs, cover letters, and a professional statement. Additional topics include writing strategies, communication ethics, documentation practices, and other related topics in English grammar and writing. A variety of teaching methods will be used, including lectures and peer and/or group work.
