Catalog Description:

This course provides ECE students an opportunity to refine their professional communication skills before launching into the workplace or graduate school. Topics include: ethics in ECE, workplace communication (written and verbal), and plans for professional growth.

Learning Outcomes:

A student who successfully fulfills the course requirements will have demonstrated:

Assessment Method:

Outcome i is assessed by performance on the 5-7 written assignments submitted during the semester by the students, each based upon a guest speakers lecture. Outcome ii is assessed by several assignments focusing on the students future plans and a self-assessment of areas of strength/weakness as they prepare either for graduate school or employment in industry. Outcomes iii and iv are assessed through performance of a minimum of two case study assignments during the course of the semester, including one on intellectual property and one on professional ethics.
