Undergraduate Scholarships

Internal Scholarships

Thanks to the generosity of many ECE Alumni and Friends, the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering has several competitive scholarships available to ECE students. Most of the scholarships are merit-based, taking into account not only students' academic performance, but also involvement in extracurricular activities, leadership positions, and community service.

A list of our endowed and recently awarded scholarships along with information on the history, intent, and inspiration behind their creation is available.

Application Process

To be eligible for scholarships from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering you must: 1) complete the ECE Scholarship Application, 2) be a Purdue West Lafayette student in ECE or a First Year Engineering student who has indicated your intent to enter ECE and will have completed all FYE requirements by the end of the Spring 2022 semester, 3) be enrolled in classes for the Fall 2022 and/or Spring 2023 semester.

Current ECE Students

Continuing students receive an email early in the Spring semester inviting them to apply for scholarships for the upcoming academic year.

FYE Students

Students currently in First Year Engineering who plan to complete all FYE requirements during the Spring semester and join the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Summer/Fall semester will have their own deadline for submission of the application and will receive an email by mid to late March with additional information on applying. FYE students must be sure to complete the Transition to Major survey by the initial deadline set by FYE and indicate ECE as their primary selection during this process in order to be eligible.

Application

A link to the ECE Scholarship Application along with information on applying will be emailed to students each Spring. Students must reapply each year in order to be considered. Once you have submitted the application, you cannot return to make additions or corrections, so be certain you have included all pertinent information before answering the final question. Applicants are strongly encouraged to not wait until the last minute in order to allow time for the resolution of any technical difficulties and ensure successful completion of the application.

We encourage all eligible students to complete the application as we use the information on your application throughout the entire year to award scholarships as well as to respond to requests for Honorary Memberships, Honors, and Awards.

Notification

ECE scholarship notifications and award letters are typically sent out to recipients by July 1st.

ECE Scholarship Recipients

Students who receive a scholarship from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering are expected to write a thank you letter to the donor(s) who made their scholarship(s) possible. Acknowledging their contributions allows donors to personally see how their gift is helping ECE students and is considered a courteous gesture. A sample thank you letter is available to students as an example, but recipients should be sure to write their letters in their own words.
