Tech Commercialization for Graduate Students

Priority: No
College Calendar: Show

INVITATION TO THE SPRING SEMESTER LEAN LAUNCHPAD CALLOUT

This spring semester the Krannert School of Management and Purdue’s NSF I-Corps Site will offer a graduate level technology commercialization and lean startup course (TE&LS) focused on testing commercial viability and developing business models for innovations in engineering/technology targeted at consumer, commercial, industrial, and defense markets. The course is a semester-long version of NSF’s widely acclaimed National Innovation Corps (I-Corps) program.

Additional information about the course can be found on the course website: http://www.krannert.purdue.edu/centers/nsf/lean-launchpad.php

The team structure used throughout the course includes three distinct roles:

1.      Technical Lead - A PhD student or graduate researcher intimately familiar with the research and innovation;

2.      Entrepreneurial Lead - A science graduate student with an interest in entrepreneurship & technology commercialization, familiar with the relevant scientific domain;

3.      Business Lead - An MBA student with an interest in entrepreneurship & technology commercialization and familiar with industry, market, competitive analysis tools and resources.

The course represents a significant time commitment (7-8 hrs / week) from the student participants so it is essential to have the strong support of supervising or advising faculty.  A diverse and experienced instructor team will support the class including a National I-Corps instructor. Through the Purdue NSF I-Corps site grant, each team will have up to $2,500 to cover the costs of traveling to conduct customer discovery interviews and other related expenses. The course and the associated NSF grant funding, pre-qualifies the researchers for application to the NSF National I-Corps program.

Students can apply directly via the course webpage listed above or through this link: https://purdue.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_8G5BQzd5bZ1Rfpz

If you are interested and would like further information, there is a callout at 5-6 pm on Thursday, December 8 in RAWLS 4054.  Thank you for your consideration.

Best regards,

Matthew
