Graduate RA position in distributed security
==============================================
We are seeking a graduate Research Assistant to be part of a CERIAS project in the area of distributed systems security. The project, funded by the Northrop Grumman Corporation, will develop algorithms to reason about attacks that target large-scale distributed systems to determine how the attack is spreading. This will be used to trigger response actions in an SDN-enabled environment, which can take the form of reconfiguring the controller rules, while ensuring that certain correctness properties (like network reachability) are maintained.
* Eligibility: 1st or 2nd year PhD student. Well qualified 1st year Masters student will also be considered.
* Skills required: Good Linux systems skills, basic background in probabilistic inferencing.
Desirable skills: Practical experience with a software defined network controller, some intrusion detection system.
* Details: The position is for a 50% FTE (20 hours/week) Graduate Research Assistant. The position is for 1 year with a high expectation of renewal, subject to suitable progress and availability of research funds. The position will involve system development and writing research papers. The hired student will work in a group with 2 other students and a Research Scientist.
* Start date: The position is available now and we will interview candidates starting now. The RA position will cover from the start date till the end of Fall 2017.
* How to apply: Please send an email to Prof. Saurabh Bagchi at sbagchi@purdue.edu and Dr. Paul Wood at pwood@purdue.edu, with subject "CERIAS RA position". State in the body of the email your expertise with respect to the skills listed above and provide your CV as an attachment in pdf format.
