Programmer at the Bindley Bioscience Center

Applications are open and fast hire is expected for a skilled and motivated research assistant to join a short project (6 to 9 months) at the Bindley Bioscience Center (BBC) at Purdue University. This opening is for a half time appointment (20h/week) for immediate start. At the BBC, interdisciplinary life sciences and engineering researchers collaborate to explore new technologies and scientific knowledge that impact the broad boundaries of plant, animal, and human diseases.

The candidate will work in a team environment to support advancing Bindley’s cyberinfrastructure for Purdue researchers. Responsibilities include implementing new features for Mass spectrometry data analysis and to develop a web-based server.

Candidates must be pursuing a Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Technology, Engineering, Bioinformatics or a closely related discipline.

The candidate should have practical experience with:

  • A windows programming and scripting language
  • Web services programming
  • Creating and maintaining databases with MySQL
  • Data handling, setting up and implementing algorithms and workflows
  • Version control software such as git, subversion
