PostDoc Openings at OxideMEMS Lab

Position Type: Research
Priority: No
Degree Requirement: PhD, Post Doctorate
Post-Doctoral Researcher Positions in the OxideMEMS Lab at Purdue University

Professor Sunil Bhave has openings for Post-Doctoral Researchers in his OxideMEMS Lab (https://engineering.purdue.edu/oxidemems/) at Purdue University. The positions are available beginning NOW for 2 years.

Projects currently under investigation in the lab waiting for qualified Post-Docs to have immediate impact include:
1. Quantum Repeater – investigate bi-directional coupling between resonator and color centers in carbide for information transfer between computing qubits and flying qubits
2. Solid-State Angle Sensor – implement mechanically-driven dynamical decoupling to enhance coherence time and measure precession of spins in diamond color centers
3. Multimorphic Tuner – fabricate bilayer transducers for efficient mechanical control of magnetic films for an octave-spanning microwave tuner
4. Oscillator – design long-term stable, vibration insensitive, single crystal piezoelectric oscillator with self-aligned electrodes
5. Mechanical Reservoir – engineer opto-mechanical dipole trap that interfaces ultracold atoms with defect qubits.

The candidates need to have hands-on experience with MEMS fabrication including photolithography, film deposition, reactive ion etching, and fab-related metrology. Knowledge of non-linearity, piezoelectric materials, resonators, microwave testing, opto-mechanics, quantum mechanics and circuit design is a plus. The researchers will interact with a broader team of collaborators in academia and industry and supervise graduate students.

The research will be performed at the Birck Nanotechnology Center, a class 100 clean-room which contains recently purchased equipment including a new fast-write JEOL 8100 ebeam and an AJA Ion Mill with end-point detection specifically geared towards the projects above.
