Fellowship opportunity with US Army Research Laboratory's Vehicle Technology Directorate

Priority: No

A fellowship opportunity is available with the U.S. Army Research Laboratory’s (ARL) Vehicle Technology Directorate (VTD), located in Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. ARL’s VTD is seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in Aerospace, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematics.

Candidates are sought to conduct basic and applied research relevant to the mobility of soldier portable unmanned aerial system. Specifically, this opportunity will focus on the flight dynamics and control of both conventional and bio-inspired flight systems designs; developing behaviors which are energy aware yet allow a platform to be sufficiently agile in the desired flight space. The study will consider time-invariant and -periodic systems and their transient responses to disturbances. The research will utilize both experimentation, including hardware development, and simulation and will utilized techniques such as system identification and adaptive controls.
