The event's mission is to foster the innovative spirit on campus and educate students on environmental sustainability. We will teach students to progress from idea to tangible product in just 54 hours while providing all necessary materials and resources to do so. Specifically, we will provide:
- Extensive in-person mentorships from engineers, industry leaders, researchers, and professors to validate ideas and guide their product roadmap
- Building materials, such as 3-D printers and SolidWorks, to assemble prototypes
- Various learning materials and workshops to gain technical expertise
- All meals over the weekend
- Keynote speakers to inspire and motivate students
This is the first year we're having EcoMake, and we've acquired measurable sponsorship from companies like Harris Corporation, secured the venue as the Honors College Atrium and the new Bechtel Innovation Design Center (BIDC), gained traction on social media marketing, and captured interest from potential speakers and judges. Our target number of participants is 120 students, and we believe that EcoMake will be Purdue's key event of the Fall.
