CCO's Grad and Postdoc Workshops

All workshops will be interactive; participants will be expected to work solo or in pairs or groups during the workshop. Seating is limited. Attend one, some, or all!

 

Tuesday, Jan. 23: Convert your CV to a resume; 10am-11:30am--WALC 3127

This 90-min. workshop will discuss the differences between the two documents, and provide time for attendees to work on their own documents. Attendees should bring their CV (paper or electronic copy) to the workshop. Please note: WALC 3127 has room for 45 persons. Arrive early to get a seat

 

Monday, January 29: How to write a convincing cover letter; 10am-11:30am--WALC 2124

This 90-min workshop will discuss the importance of this document, and discuss important aspects of crafting an effective cover letter. Attendees are asked to bring a (a) job posting, (b) CV or resume and (c) a laptop to this workshop; there will be time to learn how to read the job posting, and practice writing a letter for that job. Please note: WALC 2124 has room for 50 persons. Arrive early to get a seat.

 

Tuesday, February 6: Develop a strong LinkedIn profile; 10am-11am--HAMP 2102

This 60-min workshop/presentation will walk attendess through various features of LinkedIn, and discuss ways to create or improve their LinkedIn profiles. Attendees are encouraged to bring a laptop to work on their LinkedIn accounts during the presentation. Please note: HAMP 2102 has room for 40 persons. Arrive early to get a seat.

 

Thursday, February 15: How to conduct a job search; 10am-11:30am--RHPH 162

This 90-min workshop/presentation will discuss the elements of a job search, including the resources provided by the CCO. Attendees will have a change to focus on the element(s) that they need to work on, and are encouraged to bring their CV or resume and a laptop to this workshop. Please note: RHPH 162 has room for 36 persons. Arrive early to get a seat. 

 

Tuesday, February 20: Interview Skills; 10am-11:30am--BRNG 1245

This 90-min workshop will discuss the do's and don'ts of good intewving (in person, virtual, and phone). Attendees will practice interview skills during the workshop, and are encouraged to bring a copy of their CV or resume and a laptop to this event. Please note: BRNG 1245 has room for 40 perons. Arrive early to get a seat.
