BME 59500 (10742) Professional Communications and Leadership in Engineering--Summer 2015

This course is a brand new course being taught by Vickie Maris, Director of Graduate Programs, Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering.  Please share with your graduate students as you see fit.

Several guest lecturers from industry and academia have agreed to on-camera interviews about a variety of subjects related to communications and leadership tools and techniques engineers can use for effective connections in the business and academic communities. This is going to add quite a bit of variety to the course content and give you opportunity to work real-world case studies and engage with experts who are out in the field. The assignments will occur weekly and are designed for you to get practical experience with the communication tools and leadership techniques we’ll be covering.

Much of the class will be conducted in a flipped classroom style in which you’ll be responsible for watching videos or listening to audio files prior to class to prepare for enriched discussion.

This course is designed for online delivery even though it is only being offered on campus this summer, but that means we’ll be using Blackboard Learn and other tools common to helping learners connect with each other beyond the classroom.

Have a great weekend!
