Job Title: Hardware DC Engineer
 
Position Summary:
The Hardware Engineer – DC Power will be responsible for working with various engineering and project teams to design, troubleshoot, modify, and run qualification testing various electrical equipment under development, such as Cable, DSL and Fiber Gateways, Wifi Extenders.
 
Major Responsibilities:
  • Design, test and troubleshoot DC regulators and power electronics for various electrical equipment
  • Evaluate and document system power budget
  • Design and evaluate product power tree, including sequencing, ramp rates, and reset topology
  • Select and assess suitability and reliability of electronic components
  • Maintain product documentation
  • Interact with Application, Software, and other Electronic Engineers to meet customer/system requirements of hardware designs
  • Prototype electronic circuits and document measurements and results
  • Review and approve electrical documentation (schematics, assembly drawings, BOM, PCB layouts, etc.)
  • Perform failure analysis of electronic circuits. Issue report on findings as well as recommendations on opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Assist other members of the hardware group and/or project teams
Required Education / Desired Experience / Desired Skills:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree
  • 0-4 years relevant experience, includes project, intern and/or co-op experiences
  • Experience with Power supplies, DC/DC circuits or control circuits a plus
  • Experience designing switch mode power supplies a plus
  • Experience with circuit schematic capture and layout and simulation software
  • Experience testing and troubleshooting electronic circuits
  • Experience in using test equipment such as Digital Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, DC Power supplies, etc.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Skilled in organizing, prioritizing and coordinating working relationships with all levels of personnel within and outside of the organization.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Some domestic and international travel to plants, test facilities, and/or customer facilities may be required
