Welcome to the Duerstock IAS Lab

Our research group explores innovative approaches that better integrate engineering strategies or technologies to improve the human condition. Our goal is to enable people to be more independent, productive, and/or have greater quality of lives.

Major research interests are to improve human-technology interaction and the design and delivery of customized technologies, particularly for persons with physical disabilities. Motor and sensory impairments in the human system provide unique challenges in the design of technological solutions that provide support or greater functionality to these individuals.

Through the Institute for Accessible Science or IAS, we are able to engage with communities and other institutions to promote greater inclusion of students and scientists with disabilities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. More information can be found through the Research page.
