Chemical Engineering Professors and Students Win Awards at the 2025 AIChE Annual Meeting

AIChE's most prestigious awards, honoring eminent chemical engineers for career accomplishments, service to society, and service to the institute. These awards are presented each year at AIChE's Annual Meeting.

The AIChE Annual Meeting was held in Boston, November 2-6, 2025.

Sangtae Kim, Distinguished Professor Emeritus, was awarded the F. J. and Dorothy Van Antwerpen Award for Service to the Institute. This award recognizes a member of AIChE who has made outstanding contributions to the chemical engineering profession via service to the Institute.

 

G.V. Reklaitis, Burton and Kathryn Gedge Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering, was awarded the first George Stephanopoulos Award in Process Systems Engineering. This award recognizes outstanding lifetime contributions to process systems engineering. 

 

Graduate Student Awards:

Radhakrishna Tumbalam Gooty (center) won the W. David Smith, Jr. Graduate Publication Award

  • Ashutosh Bhadouria won the Catalysis & Reaction Engineering Division Travel Award
  • Hao Chen was a finalist for the CAST Directors’ Student Presentation Award
  • Andres Cabeza Pulido won the Process Development Division (PDD) Best Student Paper Award  
  • Yirang Park won the Pharmaceutical Discovery, Development, and Manufacturing (PD2M) Travel Award
  • Lauren Kilburn won the  Catalysis & Reaction Engineering Division Travel Award
  • Zhichen Nian won the 3rd place Electronic and Photonic Materials Graduate Student Award
  • Akash Nogaja won the Jose Bravo Graduate Student Research Award in Distillation & Absorption from the Separations Division
  • Yuanhao Tang won the 2nd place Electronic and Photonic Materials Graduate Student Award

 

Undergraduate Student Awards:


The Purdue AIChE chapter won the Outstanding Student Chapter award

  • Attila Csathy received 2nd place in the Food, Pharma and Biotech Division poster competition at the AIChE Annual Student Conference.
