Professor John Morgan was elected Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE). This prestigious recognition is bestowed on the top two percent of the most accomplished medical and biological engineers responsible for medical discovery and innovation.

John Morgan received his PhD from Rice University in 1999 and held a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California – Berkeley before coming to Purdue in 2000. In addition to his research and teaching duties, he serves as director of graduate studies in the School of Chemical Engineering and has a courtesy appointment as Professor of Biochemistry. His research focuses on engineering metabolic pathways toward increased production of chemicals as well as novel biologically active metabolites. This work combines molecular biology with mathematical modeling of metabolism that enables the rational design of modifications toexisting pathways.

AIMBE is an honorific society founded in 1991 to advocate on issues impacting the medical and biological engineering community.
