ChE graduate student Ryan Ellis wins first place at 2019 AIChE Annual Meeting
Davidson School of Chemical Engineering graduate student Ryan Ellis received a first-place award at the 2019 AIChE Annual Meeting for his presentation in the Electronic and Photonic Materials Graduate Student Awards Session for his presentation, "Synthesis and Ligand Engineering of Impurity Free Cu(In,Ga)S2 Nanoparticles for Slot-Die Coated Photovoltaics." Ellis was one of six students presenting in this category.
Dr. Letian Dou elected AIChE Area Programming Chair
Dr. Letian Dou, Assistant Professor in the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering at Purdue University, was recently elected as Area 8E Electronic and Photonic Materials Programming Chair for 2020-2021 by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).
ChE alumna Deborah Grubbe (BSChE '77) named AIChE President-elect
Purdue Chemical Engineering alumna Deborah Grubbe (BSChE '77) has been named as 2020 President-elect of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). Grubbe is Owner and President of Operations and Safety Solutions, LLC, and is a 1994 Outstanding Chemical Engineer, 2002 Distinguished Engineering Alumna, and was recognized by the College of Engineering with an honorary doctorate in 2010. Grubbe will succeed Monty M. Alger as AIChE President in 2021.
AIChE elects Dr. Rajamani Gounder as Area Programming Chair
Dr. Rajamani Gounder, the Larry and Virginia Faith Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering, was recently elected Area 20A Programming Chair for 2020-2021 by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).
Dr. Xiaoping Bao wins 2019 LG Chem Global Innovation Award
Dr. Xiaoping Bao, Assistant Professor in the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering, is winner of the 2019 LG Chem Global Innovation Contest award for his research in human-induced pluripotent stem cells, or hiPSCs. Dr. Bao's research proposal, 'Biomanufacturing Universal Natural Killer Cells from hiPSCs for Immunotherapy', will explore the potential of natural killer (NK) cells, a type of innate immune cells, from hiPSCs for cancer treatment.
ChE graduate student Jaeyub Chung wins 2019 Doh Wonsuk Memorial Award
Jaeyub Chung, a fifth year Chemical Engineering doctoral student, was recently awarded the 2019 Doh Wonsuk Memorial Award by the Korea Institute of Chemical Engineers (KIChE) for his stellar contributions to the field of chemical engineering.
ChE undergraduate Takashi Yokokura receives 2nd place at 2019 AIChE student conference
Davidson School of Chemical Engineering undergraduate Takashi Yokokura received second place at the recent 2019 AIChE Annual Student Conference Undergraduate Poster Competition in the Materials Engineering and Sciences Division. The competition was held on Monday, November 11, as part of the 2019 AIChE Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida.
Dr. Fabio Ribeiro receives Catalysis Club of Philadelphia Award
Dr. Fabio Ribeiro, the R. Norris and Eleanor Shreve Professor of Chemical Engineering at Purdue University, was presented with the 2019 Catalysis Club of Philadelphia Award during the 2019 Award Lecture.

Davidson School of Chemical Engineering graduate student Andrew Radcliffe received first place at the 2019 AIChE Annual Meeting for his presentation in the Computing and Systems Technology (CAST) Division. Radcliffe earned the top prize from 144 submissions in the category.
