Combined BSChE & MBA
The combined degree program offers a way for students in the School of Chemical Engineering to enrich their studies while also expediting their coursework. The students selected for the program will be top performers who have already proven their ability to succeed inside and outside the classroom. While pursuing their undergraduate degree, students are required to complete 130 credit hours comprised of required and elective courses. They will then be able to complement their engineering education with management knowledge provided by the MBA. The MBA is seen as a complement to the engineer’s technical education, giving him or her understanding of the business context within which many technical decisions are made. Many employers also have a strong preference for hiring MBAs with engineering backgrounds, particularly in the manufacturing and technology sectors – sectors in which both the Krannert School and the College of Engineering enjoy many longstanding relationships with leading employers.
Students who have excelled academically will be encouraged to consider this program if they have met the following criteria:
- Completion of 110 credit hours of coursework (that may include up to 8 hours of AP credit in Math) by the end of their junior year, including the required major courses identified in their plan of study
- Minimum 3.5 GPA considered with outstanding leadership and/or internship experience
- Demonstration of leadership potential, such as through extra-curricular activities
Prior to applying students are required to contact Karissa Raderstorf, Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies, email@example.com.
