Kalind graduated from IIT Guwahati (silver medalist) with majors in Mechanical Engineering, and minor in Computer Science. His undergraduate research project was to study the regimes that develop during drop coalescence of a non-Newtonian droplet on the interface of a Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluid using CFD in Fortran. He is a direct Ph.D. student in Electronics Cooling lab under Prof. Weibel and Prof. Garimella, and a recipient of Ross Fellowship
