Haotian Liu received his Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering (2015) from Shanghai Jiaotong University (SJTU) in China. At SJTU, he was the leader of the ME debate team and was awarded the SJTU academic Excellence Scholarship. He began his study at Purdue in 2014 as a senior exchange student in part of the ‘SJTU-Purdue’ graduate program. He continued his graduate studies at Purdue and received his Master of Science degree (2017) with research focus on energy recovery on power plants. He received his Ph.D. degree in August 2021 from the School of Mechanical Engineering. His Ph.D. work focused on reliability experiments and structural analysis on adhesive joints applied in HVAC&R systems. He received the Ward A. Lambert Graduate Teaching Fellowship as an instructor.
