Dengfeng Sun Expertise

Dengfeng Sun is an Associate Professor in School of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. Before joining Purdue University, he was an Associate Scientist at NASA Ames Research Center. He received a bachelor’s degree in precision instruments and mechanology from Tsinghua University in China, a master’s degree in industrial and systems engineering from the Ohio State University, and a PhD degree in civil engineering from University of California at Berkeley. Dr. Sun’s research interest includes theoretical and computational studies in control and optimization and their applications in aerospace and civil systems engineering. He is a Co-Director of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)’s Consortium in Aviation Operations Research (NEXTOR II), faculty advisor of Purdue Pilots, Inc., and faculty advisor of Sigma Gamma Tau, the honor society of Aerospace Engineering. Dr. Sun is on the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA)’s Guidance, Navigation, and Control technical committee, and an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems.
