Dr. Harilal received Ph.D in plasma physics from Cochin University of Science & Technology, India in 1998. In the same year Dr. Harilal won prestigious Alexander Humboldt Fellowship to pursue postdoctoral research in colliding plasma physics with Prof. HJ Kunze's group at Ruhr University Bochum, Germany. Before joining Purdue in 2008, he was a member of fusion group at University of California San Diego, CA and Argonne National Laboratory, IL. Dr. Harilal held Science Foundation of Ireland visiting fellow position at University College Dublin during 2007-2010. He was a recipient of Paul C. Zmola Faculty Scholar of Nuclear Engineering Award. He has authored or co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in laser-plasma, plasma diagnostics, EUV lihtography, plasma-facing components, plasma applications etc. He is a member of AVS, SPIE, OSA and IEEE.
