Philip Kester, CISTAR SLC Chair, Receives First Place Award at Michigan Catalysis Society Spring Symposium

Event Date: May 3, 2018
WEST LAFAYETTE, IND. (May 3, 2018) - The Center for Innovative and Strategic Transformation of Alkane Resources (CISTAR) congratulates Philip Kester of Purdue University and CISTAR Student Leadership Council Chair as he was selected for the Outstanding Student Oral Presentation award at the 39th Annual Michigan Catalysis Society Spring Symposium. The conference took place on May 3, 2018 in Midland, Michigan.
Kester presented on the CISTAR funded project ‘Ammonia Titration Methods to Quantify Brønsted Acid Sites in Zeolites Substituted with Aluminum and Boron Heteroatoms’ along with CISTAR team members Dr. Jeff Miller and Dr. Rajamani Gounder of Purdue University.
“This project is directed towards the synthesis of zeolite catalyst of various sizes, both on the micron-length scale as well as the atomic-level arrangement of atoms, where within those arrangements, on micron and nanometer length scales you can direct selectivity of various hydrocarbon upgrading reactions like oligomerization,” Kester said.
