CISTAR Summer Programs off to a Great Start
CISTAR welcomes 21 undergraduates from all over the country for this summer's virtual research experience as part of a six-week Research Experience and Mentoring (REM) program and a 10-week Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) session. Students are using collaborative tools like Slack, Gather Town and Google Docs to work together as they contribute to CISTAR research and develop their professional skills. Students are already having a great time getting to know one another and all of them are excited about working with CISTAR faculty and graduate mentors.
In addition to the REU and REM participants, CISTAR also welcomes 13 teachers to the Research Experience for Teachers (RET) program. There will also be 10 high school students starting the Young Scholars program in July. All of the CISTAR Summer programs are being evaluated with the common "ERC Evaluation Consortium Measures" in collaboration with external evaluators.
CISTAR Graduate Students Continue Virtual Outreach to Middle School Students
A huge thank you to the CISTAR Fellows that helped out in our outreach event giving middle schoolers an Introduction to Coding with Minecraft! We hope you had as much fun as the middle schoolers did! Round of applause to: Ricem Diaz Arroyo, Tania Borrero, Ángel Santiago, Kurt Russell, Grant Marsden, Ioannis Giannikopoulos, and Elsa Koninckx
Welcome New CISTAR Fellows!
The Student Leadership Council (SLC) wants to welcome newly joined CISTAR students! Please don't hesitate to get in touch if there are any questions or concerns. We've put together a Welcome Document to help understand what CISTAR is and your responsibilities as a CISTAR Fellow; though this document is a good resource for current Fellows as well!
