CISTAR REU Alum, Brittany Roopnarine, to Attend Case Western Reserve University to Pursue Ph.D.
|Event Date:||May 28, 2020|
Each summer (with the exception of this year) we invite high school and undergraduate students to CISTAR for our summer research programs. We stay in contact with our CISTAR alums and are a resource to them throughout their academic careers. Today, we are sharing the story of one of our REU Alums, Brittany Roopnarine.
Brittany was a member of our 2018 REU class at Purdue University while studying chemical engineering at Manhattan College in New York. Upon graduation, she returned to Purdue to earn her master’s degree and is now pursuing a Ph.D. in Macromolecular Science & Engineering at Case Western Reserve University. Brittany said that her time at CISTAR was a contributing factor to her acceptance to Case Western.
“It was my first-time doing research and I had the support of Jeff Miller and his team to pursue research after CISTAR. They helped me with my application process for my master’s degree. When I came back to Purdue, Jeff sat with me and offered advice on the PhD application process and schools. He has been really supportive of me in this whole process,” Brittany said.
