LES of Turbulent Channel Flow

A numerical study on turbulent channel flow of Re=2,800 based on channel half height, bulk velocity and Mach=0.1 was performed by using the newly developed semi-implicit high order research code. Three-level of grid systems 48x48x49/64x64x65/80x80x81 are used for this study. Mean flow and turbulent statistic are compared with Moser, Kim and Mansour's DNS results (Physics of fluids, v 11, pp 943-945, 1999; used mesh: 128x128x129). The principal objects of this study are (1) the validation of research code for wall-bounded flow and (2) the generation of turbulent inlet boundary condition for asymmetric planar diffuser flow.
