Each year, generous alumni and friends provide life-changing scholarships for Construction Engineering and Management (CEM) students. Featured is a list of the most recently established scholarships and their recipients.
Maria M. and Daniel W. Halpin Scholarship in Construction Engineering
2014-15 Recipient: Sarah Paulsen, senior in CEM, from Brookfield, Wisconsin
Anne Bigane Wilson and others set up this scholarship in honor of Maria M. and Daniel W. Halpin when Daniel retired as head of the University’s Division of Construction Engineering and Management. The Halpin scholarship is a merit-based scholarship.
Clements Family Scholarship
2014-15 Recipient: Sarah Paulsen, senior in CEM, from Brookfield, Wisconsin
This scholarship was set up by the David Clements family to support and reward academic excellence.
The Devin Dorn Memorial Scholarship
2014-15 Recipient: Haley Bartolomei, sophomore in CEM, from St. John, Indiana
Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Dorn established this scholarship in memory of their son Devin to help provide Indiana residents an affordable and accessible college education.
Janet Mackling Character Scholarship
2014-15 Recipient: Nate Secrest, junior in CEM, from Greencastle, Indiana
Jeremy Mackling established this scholarship to honor his mother and to encourage/reward students’ community service, leadership and good character.
The DVK Memorial Scholarship
2014-15 Recipient: Haley Bartolomei, sophomore in CEM, from St. John, Indiana
The scholarship was established by Margaret Newquist for students enrolled in Construction Engineering and Management in the College of Engineering and who are sophomores, juniors or seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference is given to students who are involved in Women in Engineering, Society of Women Engineers or Women in Construction Engineering Management.
The Michuda Family Scholarship
2014-15 Recipient: Sarah Paulsen, senior in CEM, from Brookfield, Wisconsin
Josef and Kristin Michuda established the scholarship for a student who is a resident of the Chicago Metropolitan area or Northwest Indiana. If, however, no student qualifies because of the geographic restriction, then it can be awarded to another CEM student.
