John Weaver

John was born and raised in Elkhart Indiana, son of John and Norma Weaver. He is a third generation Purdue CE graduate, receiving his BS and MS degrees with a geotechnical emphasis. Both his brother and sister also received CE degrees from Purdue, and his three children all attended Purdue University. John was a member of Acacia fraternity and his wife Linda was a Phi Mu (BS and MS from Purdue), and they have been married for 37 years. Linda also received a J.D. degree from Notre Dame, and converted to the dark side, to the consternation of the rest of the Weaver family.

John started his career as a survey rod man during his six grade summer working for his father. By high school he was laying out subdivisions and designing sewer systems. After graduation, John worked as a geotechnical consultant for Law Engineering and D'Appolonia consultants. In 1982, he was exposed to his first environmental remediation project, which led to a career-long focus in the largely new and rapidly expanding field of environmental engineering. John then worked for ATEC associates as its VP, and Chicago Regional Manager. Besides providing engineering and managerial support, he was a key member of the team that helped to develop and grow environmental services throughout the country.

In 1991 John founded Weaver Boos Consultants, with Tim Boos, a fellow Purdue graduate. Over the past 21 years the firm has grown to 12 offices 250 employees, and provides a variety of engineering services, with the primary focus on environmental and solid waste related services. Besides his managerial responsibilities, Mr. Weaver serves as a senior engineer and has provided expert witness services on a variety of projects.

During his career John has worked on hundreds of environmental projects across the country. A particular focus of his was to try to integrate more logic and scientific analysis into the decision making process related to environmental projects. One effort was as a member of the Chicago Brownfields Forum which was an early adopter of risk-based methodology to control extent of cleanup for brownfield redevelopment.

Mr. Weaver is still actively involved in managing the business and takes great pride and enjoyment in working with his fellow engineers and scientists to solve problems. He especially enjoys coaching and mentoring younger staff members.

He currently lives in Chicago, and in his free time likes outdoor activities, including fly fishing and hunting.
