Congratulations to CE grad student Davis Chacon-Hurtado on being awarded the Outstanding Service Scholarship. This scholarship is presented to engineering graduate students who have provided outstanding service to the graduate student community, the School, the College, and/or the University.

Davis is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Transportation and Infrastructure Systems program of the Lyles School of Civil Engineering at Purdue University working under the direction of Dr. Gkritza and Dr. Fricker. He obtained his M.S. in Civil Engineering at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayaguez and his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of San Antonio Abad in Cusco, Peru. His research interests include transit, systems evaluation, and economic development. His current work focuses on understanding the role of transportation in making communities more resilient to economic shocks.

Davis served as the vice president of student chapter of the Institute of Transportation Engineers at Purdue during the past academic year, as well as the vice president of the Civil Engineering Graduate Student Advisory Council (CEGSAC) during the spring 2016. He also serves as a Purdue graduate student Ambassador for Latin America.
