August 2023 Candidate Deadlines

Masters Non-Thesis Candidates for August 2023:

• Plan of Study must be electronically approved by the CE Grad Program by May 12, 2023.
• Candidacy must be declared by May 31, 2023 by notifying the CE Graduate Office so they can register you for the appropriate candidate course. Remember to include your advisor's permission.
• Confirm the type of final exam required with your advisor. If you will have a formal exam event, inform the CE Graduate Office at least two weeks in advance of the date.
• Any exam event must be held no later than July 19, 2023.
• Arrange a departmental exit interview with Jenny Ricksy during the weeks of July 17 - 28, 2023.
  • Be sure to take the CE Departure Form and any supplemental forms to the exit interview.

Masters Thesis and PhD Candidates for August 2023:

• Plan of Study must be electronically approved by the CE Grad Program by May 12, 2023.
• Candidacy must be declared by May 31, 2023 by notifying the CE Graduate Office so they can register you for the appropriate candidate course. Remember to include your advisor's permission.
• Submit Form 8 online at least three weeks before exam date, but no later than June 28, 2023, so exam materials can be prepared. The Graduate Office will provide exam paperwork to the committee chair before the exam. Contact your area format advisor to work out timeline for thesis format review. Submit pdf of abstract to CE Grad Office.
• Hold Final Exam no later than July 19, 2023. Initiate electronic Form 9 - make sure to use the final thesis title. The Form 9 must match the title on your deposited document. You will not be permitted to upload your document to the Graduate School for deposit until the Form 9 has been fully approved by Civil.
• Review Thesis/Dissertation deposit requirements at: http://www.purdue.edu/gradschool/research/thesis/index.html
• Schedule an exit interview with the CE Grad Chair to be held no later than July 24, 2023.
• Submit your thesis to your format advisor for final thesis format check at least three business days prior to your exit interview with the CE Grad Chair, but no later than July 21, 2023. Ensure that you have format approval prior to your exit interview.
• At least 24 hours prior to your exit interview with the CE Grad Chair, but no later than July 23, 2023, send a copy of your thesis/dissertation to Dr. Abraham (dulcy@purdue.edu) via DropBox or FileLocker.
• Complete Graduate School exit surveys.
• Upload your approved document to the Graduate School deposit site at least 24 hours prior to the deadline, but no later than 5:00 p.m. on July 25, 2023. You will not be permitted to upload your document to the Graduate School for deposit until the Form 9 has been fully approved by Civil.
• Submit a completed Civil Engineering Departure Form to the Civil Engineering main office (HAMP 1141) before leaving campus.
• The CE Grad Office does NOT need a formal bound copy of the thesis.

• Last day to complete prelim to be eligible for August 2024 graduation: August 4, 2023
• Last day to submit POS for December 2023 graduation: August 18, 2023
