Student Opportunities

Undergraduate opportunities

I am always looking for undergraduate hourly workers, and beginning to evaluate applications for Summer 2008 SURF undergraduate research positions. I anticipate needing 2-3 undergraduate students for the summer work. Be aware that the deadline for summer SURF fellowship applications is typically March 15, and it is highly advantageous to contact me well in advance of that deadline if you are interested in working with me on a summer project. If you are interested in either hourly undergraduate work or summer research fellowships, please email me.

If you are interested in working with me as an undergraduate research assistant or paid hourly researcher during the year, please email me to see if I have any opportunities, with the email subject "Undergraduate Research Opportunities".

Graduate opportunities

I have immediate openings for M.S. and Ph.D. positions in my research group for FALL 2008. If you are interested in working with me, please send me an email with your C.V. as a pdf attachment, with the email subject "RA Opportunities" .

We invite applications for immediate M.S. and Ph.D. opportunities in the areas of laboratory environmental fluid dynamics, field research on lake dynamics, and numerical modeling of large lakes. The Hydraulics and Hydrology group is a diverse group with research interests that include watershed hydrology, sediment transport, river channel morphology, constructed wetlands, lake and riverine dynamics, experimental fluid mechanics, and environmental fluid mechanics. Specific current research projects include: laboratory studies of internal waves, Lake Michigan dynamics, GIS and hydrologic modeling, remote sensing applications in hydrology, and hydrologic information systems. We welcome applications from all students with strong backgrounds in science, mathematics, physics, or engineering. Funding for qualified Ph.D. students is available.
