December 2020 Candidate Deadlines

Masters Non-Thesis Candidates for December 2020:

  • Plan of Study must be electronically approved by CE Grad Program by August 21, 2020.
  • Candidacy must be declared by September 16, 2020 by registering for the appropriate candidate course and notifying the CE Graduate Office.
  • Confirm the type of final exam required with your advisor.  If you will have a formal exam event, inform the CE Grad Office at least two weeks in advance of the date.
  • Any exam event must be held no later than December 2, 2020.
  • Arrange a departmental exit interview with Jenny Ricksy during the weeks of November 30 - December 11, 2020.
    • Be sure to take the CE Departure Form and any supplemental forms to the exit interview.

Masters Thesis and PhD Candidates for December 2020:

  • Plan of Study must be electronically approved by the CE Grad Program by August 21, 2020.
  • Candidacy must be declared by September 16, 2020 by registering for the appropriate candidate course (via Form 23) and notifying the CE Graduate Office.
  • Submit Form 8 online at least three weeks before exam date, but no later than November 11, 2020, so exam materials can be prepared. Grad office will provide exam paperwork to the committee chair before the exam.  Contact your area format advisor to work out timeline for thesis format review. Submit pdf of abstract to CE Grad Office.
  • Hold Final Exam no later than December 2, 2020.  Initiate electronic Form 9 - make sure to use the final thesis title. The Form 9 must match the title on your deposited document. You will not be permitted to upload your document to the Graduate School for deposit until the Form 9 has been fully approved by Civil.
  • Review Thesis/Dissertation deposit requirements at:

  • Schedule an exit interview with the CE Grad Chair no later than December 9, 2020.
  • Submit your thesis to your format advisor for final thesis format check at least three business days prior to your exit interview with the CE Grad Chair, but no later than December 4, 2020. Ensure that you have format approval prior to your exit interview.
  • At least 24 hours prior to your exit interview with the CE Grad Chair, but no later than December 8, 2020, send a copy of your thesis/dissertation to Dr. Abraham (dulcy@purdue.edu) via DropBox.
  • Complete Graduate School exit surveys.
  • Upload your approved document to the Graduate School deposit site at least 24 hours prior to the deadline, but no later than 5:00 pm on December 10, 2020. You will not be permitted to upload your document to the Graduate School for deposit until the Form 9 has been fully approved by Civil.
  • Submit a completed Civil Engineering Departure Form to the CE main office before leaving campus.
  • The CE Grad Office does NOT need a formal bound copy of the thesis.
