Professor Kumares C. Sinha leads team to India

A team of six traveled to India on a World Bank mission to review and make recommendations for the planning, design and construction aspects of national highway development program in India.

On invitation by The World Bank, Kumares C. Sinha, Olson Distinguished Professor of Civil Engineering, led a mission to India during October 2006 to review  planning, design and construction aspects of the national highway development program. India has embarked upon a massive program of transportation development.

The purpose of the mission was to make recommendations that can improve cost effectiveness, enhance safety and reduce delay in the execution of national highway projects in India. Boudewijn van Gelder, Associate Professor of Geomatics, and Phelps Klika, Deputy Commissioner of Indiana Department of Transportation and a 1971 graduate of Civil Engineering were also members of the six person team.
