Good Morning America's Investigation on Bridge Accidents
On March 6, 2015, Good Morning America aired an investigation on bridge accidents. Footage was used that originated from Purdue University Associate Professor of Lyles School of Civil Engineering Robert Connor and his research with a web-based bridge monitoring interface. His research focused on a short-term monitoring solution for a more effective asset management tool used by bridge owners when inspecting critical onsite locations.

After initial testing, INDOT requested the Virginia Avenue Bridge, located in Indianapolis over the I-65/I/70 split, be outfitted with the test equipment due to recent significant bridge strikes. The temporary equipment provided real-time high definition video footage to key personnel via email moments after a strike occurred. The footage culminated into a short video that was used for a media campaign to prepare drivers and residents for temporary road closure of the interstate. The campaign grabbed national attention through INDOT's efforts with stories covered on MSNBC, the Today Show, and Good Morning America. Over a year later, the video is still resurfacing once again on Good Morning America. Link to Story
