Dulcy Abraham, Professor of Civil Engineering, is the inaugural recipient of the ASCE Construction Institute Advancement of Women in Construction Award for excellence as a construction academic in the areas of teaching, research, and service, and demonstrated support, guidance, mentoring, and promotion of growth opportunities for the advancement of women in the construction profession.

G.A. Leonards Lecture and PGS Workshop

Team "Carbonbusters" named EnergyTech UP Central Regional Finalists

An interdisciplinary team of Purdue engineering students, led by associate professor Zhi (George) Zhou, is one of the top 15 teams among 225 teams in the country selected as finalists in the EnergyTech University Prize 2024 competition. These teams have been awarded $3,000 for their business plans and will advance to compete in the National Pitch Event this April at the Energy Thought Summit in Austin, Texas.

Fixing the pothole problem

As pothole season continues, professor Luna Lu's smart concrete research continues to get media coverage. Lu’s innovative concrete sensors, which allow concrete to "communicate" with engineers about its strength, were recently featured in a CBS Boston story. The reporter used video from the Purdue News YouTube page to showcase how Lu’s sensors are cutting down construction time and saving taxpayers millions of dollars.

With seed money from the College of Agriculture through Plant Sciences 2.0 and the USDA's Ag2PI: Agricultural Genome to Phenome program, associate professor Jinha Jung and his team are building Data to Science (d2s) — an online platform that initially will house data from unmanned aerial vehicles for crops and forestry. On this website, users share drone data instead of videos.

CE sophomores Amareah Bead and Kaltra Woltz have been named Dean's Leadership Scholars. Established in 2019, the program selects students based on academic and leadership accomplishments to serve in an external advisory role to the dean.
