Prof. Jan Olek was honored for his outstanding contributions regarding sustainable construction materials at the Third International Conference on Sustainable Construction Materials and Technologies held on August 18-21, 2013 in Kyoto, Japan. Special technical sessions in his honor were held during this international event.

This conference is the third international conference in a series that is held every three years by the Coventry University and the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee Center for By-Products Utilization for the purpose of technology transfer and continuing education for the engineers and other professionals engaged in and interested in sustainable and alternative materials in various construction applications. About 450 professionals from about 40 countries attended this international conference. SCMT3 was co-sponsored by the Japan Concrete Institute.
