Purdue set department records during the 2020-21 school year with 96 fall Academic All-Big Ten honorees, 256 overall Academic All-Big Ten honorees and 85 Big Ten Distinguished Scholars.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten, student-athletes must be enrolled full-time at their university for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Big Ten Distinguished Scholar recognition is based on a 3.7-plus yearly or cumulative GPA for sophomores and above.

All three teams were ranked among the top 25 for multiple weeks. Meanwhile, both of cross country's NCAA Championships qualifiers this season – Curt Eckstein and Emma Tate – were also Academic All-Big Ten honorees. Eckstein is a four-time NCAAs qualifier and four-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
