Otto has received many honors and recognitions, including the UF Doctoral Dissertation Advisor/Mentoring Award, the UF BME Service Award, the UF BME Research Award, the Weldon School Faculty Service Award and the Outstanding Faculty Award from the Weldon School Graduate Student Association.

Wallace’s goal is to interface with local, state and federal sources and businesses that can bring resources and opportunities into the Indianapolis ecosystem on campus to both bolster what people are doing in their labs and also create bigger initiatives that will drive the campus forward.

Young L. Kim, a professor of the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering has been granted two patents on his intellectual property, “Light-activated photoreaction via genetic hybridization of far-red fluorescent protein and silk.”

Lee has invented a new glaucoma drainage device that combats the problem of biofouling. Using new advancements in technology, the device is "Smart" and can clear itself of harmful bio-buildup.

Twenty-four students from the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering and the College of Engineering spent the week in Ireland visiting medical device and pharma manufacturers in Castlebar, Galway, Limerick and Cork.

Election to AIMBE’s College of Fellows is limited to the top 2% of medical and biological engineers in these fields. Those elected are considered to have made outstanding contributions to engineering and medicine research, practice or education.

The Bioengineering Machine Learning Lab team, led by Young Kim, took a trip to Eldoret, Kenya to get a first-hand look at how their lab could directly impact global health—saving thousands of mothers and babies.
