If You Have Just Been Admitted to Our Program

Congratulations on having received an offer of financial assistance for your graduate studies in the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering!

Please note that until you receive an email from the Graduate School that notifies you to check your updated admission status online, you have not been officially admitted to Purdue University. If you do not receive this email from the Graduate School within 3 weeks after our financial offer letter arrives, please contact the Graduate Program Assistant of the BME Graduate office at Please note that the Graduate School no longer mails copies of the admission letter. The email from the Graduate School will direct you to log into the Purdue application website and to view your letter of admission. Please print this letter and retain for your records.

For domestic students, once you have received our letter of financial support and your official letter from the Graduate School you are ready to prepare for your arrival at Purdue.

For International Applicants

Presently for international students, you must possess the Approved Work Authorization form (I-20 or DS-2019); a valid passport; a valid, unexpired student visa; and evidence that you have paid the SEVIS Fee. The Purdue Office of International Students and Scholars (ISS) strongly recommends that you DO NOT make travel arrangements until you possess all of these documents.

To begin the process of obtaining your Work Authorization form, international applicants will need to complete the "Notification of Intent" (NOI) form and return it to the ISS office. On the last page of the letter of admission from the Graduate School (see instructions for accessing this letter above) will be instructions for accessing a weblink and for downloading the NOI form. From the time you submit the NOI form to the ISS office to the time you receive your I-20, at least 2 weeks will elapse.

Please include a copy of your funding letter with your NOI before returning it. If you have not received a funding letter from us you will need to provide proof of funds with your NOI. This can simply be a bank statement or letter from whomever may be providing your support.

Once the ISS office receives your NOI, your paperwork will be processed and the ISS office will mail you your I-20 or IAP-66, which you can then use to obtain your visa. Please allow up to 2 weeks for processing your I-20 or IAP-66 from the date the ISS office receives your NOI and supporting documents.

You can find more information about the ISS office at . If you have any questions about ISS procedures please contact Glenise Ewalt at
