It is with regret that we announce that Iecun Johanes, Class of 2008, succumbed to his battle with lupus in August 2009. As many of you know, Iecun was a kind-hearted and friendly individual who took his studies very seriously and who had a zest for learning. After graduation he was a research assistant in Professor Albena Ivanisevic's Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) laboratory. He had planned to return to his homeland of Indonesia and enroll in a Biomedical Engineering graduate program. His focus would have been to improve the diagnosis and treatment of lupus, with the ultimate goal of finding a cure.
