Bourland Travel Grant for BME students awarded
Four BME students have been selected to receive Joe Bourland Travel Grants: Aaron Kosinski, Rui Li, Yan Li, and Pu Wang.

Dr. Bourland established this award to provide support on a competitive basis to graduate students in need of funds to support their travel to a conference as part of their graduate studies.  Students benefit tremendously from attending conferences and presenting their work to peers and experts in their field.  Conferences also present an ideal networking opportunity for students to explore research collaborations, potential employment and broaden their knowledge base. This year's recipients include:

Pu Wang - who attended the Photonics West conference in San Francisco, CA, on February 2-7, 2013.

Aaron Kosinski - who traveled to Orlando, FL, for the Combined Otolaryngology Spring Meeting on April 10-14, 2013.

Yan Li - who will be attending the Operations Research and Management Science (INFORMS) Healthcare 2013 Conference in Chicago, IL on June 23-26, 2013.

Rui Li - who also attended the Photonics West conference in San Francisco, CA on February 2-7, 2013.

Dr. Joe Bourland was one of the "Fab 4" to come to Purdue from Baylor University in 1974 (along with Dr. Les Geddes, Dr. Willis Tacker, and Dr. Charles Babbs) to form the Hillenbrand Biomedical Engineering Research Center that eventually became the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering.
