Abstract:  A failure of beta cells to secrete sufficient levels of insulin underlies all forms of diabetes. Our lab is focused on understanding the contributions of  non-endocrine islet cells to the regulation of insulin release in health and disease. Here, I will highlight some recent work by us and others which highlight the importance of the exocrine pancreas in determining islet function/dysfunction and propose mechanisms by which this may occur.

The Virtual Seminar Series is sponsored by the Diabetes Research Centers and Centers for Diabetes Translational Research.  Questions, feedback, or suggestions for future speakers?
