Science on Tap is this Thursday! We will be hosting Dr. Jenna Rickus, an Associate Professor from the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering and the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering. Her talk on "Humans 2.0: Will my grandkids be cyborgs?" will take place Thursday, February 19th at 6PM, upstairs at the Lafayette Brewing Company.

Neuroengineering, cell transplantation, tissue engineering, synthetic biology, nanotechnology.  These relatively new fields of research are all growing; some are exploding; and a few are on the verge of major breakthroughs that will revolutionize medicine and change how we see the human body …  maybe even change what it means to be human.  Most of our ideas of what this hybrid future looks like are driven by science fiction, but how close are today’s technologies to realizing this imagined future?  Or will reality look like something we haven’t even imagined yet?

Food will be provided at the event thanks to the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering.

Science on Tap is an informal conversation about science. Additional information is available at www.facebook.com/scienceontaplafayette or by contacting scienceontaplafayette@gmail.com
