"From the Lab to the Market: Lessons Learned from a Serial Biotech Entrepreneur and Leader" is the title of this week's seminar, presented by Todd Wallach, MBA, MSE, MB, President and CEO of Evogen, Inc.

Abstract: Moving potential life science products and technologies - including therapeutics, medical devices and diagnostics - from the earliest stages and earliest signals in the laboratory to the market and impacting patients is a very difficult and challenging process.  The process entails significant research, development, clinical, regulatory financing, marketing and leadership challenges on a global scale.  This seminar will provide insights and lessons learned from the building and launching of several companies and products globally, and potential paths to improve the outcome and success for advancing life science products and technologies to the market.

Bio: Mr. Wallach has over 30 years of experience in life sciences, technology, systems, business development, strategic, operating and commercial planning, intellectual property licensing, finance and operations.  He is a successful life sciences entrepreneur and seasoned senior executive in Biotechnology, Pharmaceuticals and Devices/Diagnostics, and has started and built companies with total market capitalization of >$1B, managed P&Ls of over $50M and raised over $75M in capital.   

Mr. Wallach is currently CEO and President of Evogen Inc., a commercial stage biothreat detection and diagnostics company. Mr. Wallach was formerly Chairman, CEO and a member of the founding management team of Molecular Detection Inc., a commercial stage molecular diagnostics company.  Previously, Mr. Wallach was CFO and a member of the founding management team of Aton Pharma, Inc. (Acquired by Valeant Pharmaceuticals), a specialty pharmaceutical company.  His team increased worldwide product portfolio sales from $10M to >$50M in under two years. Prior to Aton Pharma, he was Vice President of Finance and Operations and a member of the founding management team of Acuity Pharmaceuticals (Now Opko, NASDAQ:  OPK), a technology spin out from the University of Pennsylvania. 

Mr. Wallach has significant Strategy, Finance and Operations consulting experience gained through his work as a management consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton. Mr. Wallach is a former member of the Institutional Review Board for Clinical Trials at the University of Pennsylvania, and is an advisor and board member to several life science, Healthcare IT and technology companies. 

Mr. Wallach’s educational background includes an MSE in Technology Management from University of Pennsylvania School of Engineering and Applied Science and Wharton School of Business, a Master of Biotechnology from University of Pennsylvania, an MBA from Rider University and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University.
