Purdue Alum John DeFord Named Bard's New VP of Science & Technology

C. R. Bard, Inc. has announced the appointment of Dr. John A. DeFord to the position of vice president, science and technology, effective immediately. In his new role, DeFord will have oversight of Bard's research and new product development program.

Dr. DeFord joins Bard from Early Stage Partners, a venture capital fund based in Cleveland, OH, where he was a managing director, responsible for life sciences investments. Previously, he spent 8 years with Cook Incorporated, where, in 2001 he was named president and chief executive officer. Dr. DeFord received a B.S. and M.S. degree in electrical engineering and a Ph.D. in electrical/biomedical engineering, all from Purdue University. He has conducted extensive research and authored numerous scientific and business publications throughout his career.
