Professors Bouman, Nyenhuis and Robinson Elected AIMBE Fellows

Event Date: February 4, 2004
Three BME faculty have been recently elected to the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) College of Fellows. Professors Charles A. Bouman, John A. Nyenhuis, and J. Paul Robinson will be inducted as AIMBE Fellows on February 27, 2004 during its annual meeting at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, D.C.

The number of individuals granted membership in the AIMBE College of Fellows is limited to 2% of the total number of individuals active in medical and biological engineering. It is the highest status attainable in AIMBE. Fellows are recognized by AIMBE as persons who have uniquely distinguished themselves in the field. Our inducteesÂ’ citations for election are:

Charles A. Bouman: "For the development of innovative statistical reconstruction methods in CT imaging."

John Nyenhuis: "For unique theoretical and experimental contributions to the understanding of the human response to MRI gradient fields."

J. Paul Robinson: "For contributions to cell and tissue engineering, complex imaging of physiological processes, and innovations in medical diagnostic techniques."

Congratulations to each of them on this well-deserved recognition that brings such pride to our department and university.
