Professor Mario Svirsky Appointed to International Academy

Professor Mario Svirsky has been named a member of the Collegium Oto-Rhino-Laryngologicum Amicitae Sacrum. The Collegium was founded in 1926, and is an international academy whose members are researchers and scientists in the combined specialties of diseases of the ear, nose and larynx. Prof. Svirsky's research interests focus on speech and signal processing, cochlear implants, neural prostheses, speech perception and production, auditory psychophysics and auditory neuroscience.

Prof. Svirsky helped establish the first cochlear implant program in Uruguay, South America, and has been editor-in-chief of the Journal of Ear and Hearing. His primary appointment is in the Department of Otolaryngology, Head, and Neck Surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
