Professor Emeritus Leslie A. Geddes to be presented an IEEE Millennium Medal

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE) helps advan ce global prosperity by promoting the engineering process of creating, develop ing, integrating, sharing, and applying knowledge about electrical and informa tion technologies and sciences for the benefit of humanity and the profession. As part of its celebration of the Third Millennium, the IEEE will award Meda ls to selected IEEE members for outstanding contributions in their respective areas of activity. IEEE now has more than 335,000 members and will award only 3000 medals in recognition of significant technical contributions to the indu stry and service to the society.

Among other honors, Professor Geddes has previously received the AEMB Award fo r leadership in biomedical engineering (Alpha Eta Mu Beta is the honor society for biomedical engineering), an IEEE/EMBS (Engineering in Medicine and Biolog y Society) Career Achievement Award, an Outstanding Educator award from the Am erican Society of Engineering Education, and the 1994 Edison Gold Medal from I EEE.
