Innovation Wing

Martin Jischke Hall

The Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering has envisioned an exciting, bold plan to be an academic leader in the field of biomedical engineering through the planned, strategic expansion of its educational programs, research capabilities, and industry outreach. The new Innovation Wing supports the School’s vision and the University’s three-fold missions of discovery with delivery, meeting global challenges, and launching tomorrow’s leaders.

About the Innovation Wing

The Innovation Wing is an $18 million, 29,500 square foot addition to the Martin C. Jischke Hall of Biomedical Engineering that provides a nexus for collaborative applied research, technology innovation, both hands-on and online instruction, and outreach to company and healthcare partners.

Following the vision and design principles of the Martin C. Jischke Hall of Biomedical Engineering, the new Wing provides open-concept wet research labs, translational research labs including a behavioral core, an expanded multidisciplinary student design lab, and support spaces for both instructional and research laboratories. Additional areas of the Wing house instructional spaces that support innovative active-learning pedagogy, office spaces, graduate student office areas, and interactive team areas.
